This Week Continues to Close Gaps with 'Meet the Press'
According to Nielsen Media Research, ABC News “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” on Sunday, January 3, 2010 closed the total viewing gap with NBC’s “Meet the Press” by 50% (740,000 in 2010 vs. 1,470,000 in 2009) versus the same week last year.
Among the key Adults 25-54 demographic, ABC closed the gap with NBC by 57% (270,000 in 2010 vs. 630,000 in 2009) year-to-year. “This Week” ended 2009 having cut into “Meet’s” total viewing lead 43 weeks out of the year, which did not include the three weeks when ABC was number one).
Season-to-date, “This Week” is averaging 2.77 million Total Viewers, maintaining its second place rank for the season so far, outperforming CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
Terry Moran, who filled in for George Stephanopoulos on Sunday, January 3, interviewed Deputy NSC Director John Brennan and moderated a congressional panel with Reps. Harman and Hoekstra and Sens. Collins and Lieberman. The roundtable featured Ron Brownstein, David Sanger, Cynthia Tucker, and George Will.
