Starting April 26, 2010, BBC America will broadcast via a dual feed, making all programming times uniform for viewers on both coasts. This exciting development comes just as BBC America increases its availability to more than 67 million households.
Chris Carr, COO Channels, BBC Worldwide, America commented: “We’re passionate about making sure BBC America meets the needs of its viewers, distributors and advertisers. Launching a dual feed is the next step in this process and will allow us to better serve viewers and distributors in Mountain and West Coast time zones.”
The channel’s unique and high quality British programming has secured the channel four Golden Globes, eight Peabody Awards and most recently an Emmy® Award for Business and Financial Reporting for news program, BBC World News America.
BBC America recently celebrated its highest ever primetime rating in January 2010 with the most recent Doctor Who special. As one of the channel’s top rated shows, the U.S. premiere of Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part Two, was watched by over 1.335 million viewers and was the fifth highest cable network among A25-54 viewers among all ad supported cable nets during the time period. Other top performing shows include car entertainment show Top Gear, sitcom Gavin & Stacey and king of the kitchen Gordon Ramsay.
