Bloomberg Hits the Gas on BP CEO Departure

Bloomberg Coverage of BP CEO Tony Hayward's DepartureBloomberg television covered the news of the impending departure of troubled BP CEO Tony Hayward, and BP's staggering quarterly losses, with extensive live global news coverage and updates. Bloomberg's extensive coverage began early on Monday morning when shows airing from London started to cover the story, which had initially broken on Sunday night.

Bloomberg's US coverage went into high gear with "InBusiness with Margaret Brennan" broadcast live on both Monday and Tuesday from outside BP's world headquarters, in St. James' Sqaure, central London, with Brennan discussing the fate of tony Hayward, his successor and BP's record losses.

Bloomberg's "Street Smart" anchor Matt Miller was live from Houston outside the company's U.S. headquarters and Washington D.C. correspondent Lizzie O'Leary was live once more New Orleans, spending her seventh week in the Gulf since the disaster happened.

A Bloomberg spokesperson told News on News; "In addition to covering the spill and clean-up in the Gulf, Bloomberg Television has focused extensively on market analysis of BP and how the Gulf disaster and Washington debate have impacted every corner of the energy industry - including concerns over the long-term viability of BP and outlook for investing potential in other companies in the sector."

"Over the past several months, Bloomberg Television has utilized the network's global reach (cameras in 33 countries around the world) to cover every angle of the BP story. As CEO Tony Hayward went around the world to discuss sales of assets and re-assure investors, Bloomberg Television tracked him in Angola and Moscow and was the only network to gather footage of Hayward leaving Abu Dhabi after his meeting with the Crown Prince."
