Peter Cook is Bloomberg Television’s chief Washington correspondent, providing in-depth coverage of Congress, the U.S. Treasury, the Federal Reserve and top regulatory and legislative issues from Washington D.C.
Cook, who joined Bloomberg Television in 2003, has conducted multiple interviews with the key decision makers in government and regulatory policy, including Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, former Treasury Secretaries Henry Paulson and John Snow, Federal Reserve Presidents Thomas Hoenig and Jeffrey Lacker.
Cook has interviewed numerous political and business leaders for the network including, Google Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt, JP Morgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon as well as Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally. He also interviewed all of the major presidential candidates during the course of the 2008 campaign and anchored Bloomberg Television's primary and election night coverage.
Cook's reporting has taken him to China with President Barack Obama and former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson as well as the Middle East and Beijing with current Secretary Timothy Geithner. Cook also covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for Bloomberg Television.
Prior to joining Bloomberg Television, Cook was a producer and reporter for NBC News and MSNBC in Washington. Before that, he helped launch EnergyNewsLive.com as news director and Washington bureau chief. Cook also spent ten years as a local news anchor and reporter.
The son of a former Newsweek Rome bureau chief, Cook lived in Italy in his early youth. Cook is a graduate of Duke University and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
