Zahra Burton is a New York-based reporter for Bloomberg Television, where she covers the top market-moving stories of the day.
Burton has covered major business stories, including the global financial crisis, healthcare reform, the BP oil spill and the trial of Bernard Madoff.
Prior to joining Bloomberg Television in 2005, Burton was a segment producer for NDTP Productions based out of KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles, where she earned an Emmy nomination for her contribution to a weekly show on local entrepreneurs, "Making It: Minority Success Stories." While in Los Angeles, she also served as guest host for "The Young Turks," a national radio show focused on politics, sports, pop culture and entertainment.
Earlier in her career, Burton was an anchor and reporter for Television Jamaica in her hometown of Kingston. She filed live reports for CNN and "CNN World Report" and additionally covered local politics, including the Jamaican Parliament and Senate. Burton began her career with Net Financial News in Miami where she served as a production assistant and later, reported on-air.
Burton holds a master's degree from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and a bachelor's degree in marketing and international business from Florida International University. Burton was Miss Jamaica Universe in 2001.
