Margaret Conley is a reporter for Bloomberg Television, based in Shanghai, China.
Conley brings extensive experience in covering news from across the Asia-Pacific region, having reported from Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Australia and the Solomon Islands.
Prior to joining Bloomberg Television in September 2010, Conley was an ABC News reporter based in Tokyo, Japan.
She reported across ABC News' broadcast, radio and digital media platforms, contributing to the network's breaking coverage of the Toyota recalls, among other stories. Before moving to Tokyo, Conley reported for ABC News from Indonesia. Based in President Barack Obama’s childhood hometown of Jakarta, she contributed to the network's 2008 election and 2009 inauguration coverage which won a News and Documentary Emmy Award.
During her time at ABC, Conley interviewed United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Thailand's then-Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and U.S. Senator John Kerry. Prior to that, Conley worked as a producer at MTV News in New York, where she worked on projects including the network's presidential campaign coverage.
Conley earned her bachelor's degree in political science/international relations from Columbia University, where she also received a Gold King's Crown Award. She earned a master's degree from the Journalism Media Studies Centre at the University of Hong Kong, which specializes in coverage of Asia.
