Mike Firn

Mike Firn is a Tokyo-based reporter for Bloomberg Television, covering Japanese business, political and economic news.

Since joining Bloomberg Television in 2000, Firn has covered many major business stories from the region, including reporting on the Toyota recall from the company’s headquarters in Toyoda City and the G8 meetings in Hokkaido and Okinawa.

Firn has also reported live from events in India, Indonesia, Laos, South Korea and elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region.

A seasoned broadcast journalist with over twenty years of experience, Firn previously served as an executive producer and assignment editor for Bloomberg Television in Tokyo, overseeing show production teams and planning daily and long-term news coverage.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, Firn served as an editor for Associated Press Television news in London, where he managed global news-gathering from the international television wire agency. He has also held positions at CNBC Asia, Asia Television, Commercial Radio and BBC Radio.

Firn received an honors degree in English Literature from Sheffield and a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the London College of Printing, UK. He speaks Japanese and Cantonese.
