CNBC's European studios in London are undergoing a major refurbishment which has required the move of its output to its smaller 'studio 2'.
Programming began broadcasting from studio 2 on Monday 7th March, however work has been underway at CNBC's Fleet Place facility in London since early in the year.
It is thought that the refurbishment will include a new high-tech video wall suggested to be similar to the one now in use at CNBC's world headquarters in Englewood Cliffs.
Sources briefed on the refit tell News on News that the refit will result in a radical change of appearance on-screen to what viewers have been used to. CNBC's London studios have utilised the same studio position and view of the newsroom since the late 1990's with only one major refurbishment since then.
A CNBC Spokesperson told News on News; "CNBC has moved its business day programming to Studio 2, in order to make way for the build-out of its new state of the art Studio 1. Work is well underway and has so far involved a complete transformation of its reception area and the creation of an open-plan office setting for its news and commercial teams at its Fleet Place location in the City of London.
"The new studio is set to be the centre piece of the office, providing CNBC with multi-functional studio space and alternative settings for its daily programmes. CNBC will begin broadcasting from Studio 1 in early May."
