CNN's ratings problems, which dogged the network in October, have continued into November. The night before this year's off-year elections saw both Anderson Cooper and Larry King hit their lows of the year in total viewers. Monday night saw Larry King attract only 450,000 viewers in the 9pm timeslot, whilst Anderson Cooper could only muster 396,000 in the 10pm hour. The 11pm hour of Cooper's AC360 programme performed worse, only garnering 296,000.
Meanwhile, over on the other networks, Greta Van Susteren's On The Record scored nearly 1.5m viewers in the 10pm slot, ahead of MSNBC's repeat of Countdown with Keith Olberman, which scored 561,000. HLN's Nancy Grace grabbed third place with a respectable 413,000, leaving CNN and Anderson Cooper languishing in fourth place.
The story is quite different in the advertiser favoured 25-54 demographic however, with both Larry King and Anderson Cooper fairing much better.
