CNN Radio announced that it would commence a restructuring late last year following the extension of its relationship with Westwood One, the network's biggest outlet. The restructure has already seen the top of the hour bulletins cut from 5 minutes, down to 2 minutes.
Mediabistro's TV Newser has learned that 11 staff based at CNN's headquarters in Atlanta have been cut as part of the ongoing re-organisation of CNN Radio's operations. They report;
In a memo sent by CNN Radio's director of audio programming Tyler Moody and obtained by TVNewser, Moody writes, "This type of change is difficult, especially when those impacted are our longtime colleagues and friends. I would like to thank each of you and acknowledge your work and contributions toward CNN Radio."
While 11 staffers have been cut, new positions will be created, Moody writes. The "restructure will provide a dynamic mix of editorial content for the consumer and will allow the organization to take advantage of new opportunities."
