CNN Says Goodbye to Betty Nguyen

On yesterday morning's edition of CNN Newsroom Weekend AM, Betty Nguyen was saluted by her on air family on what was her last day on the network.  Betty’s co-anchor T.J. Holmes called in from his honeymoon location to “ask Betty not to leave.”

Betty Nguyen is leaving CNN to join CBS News where she will anchor the CBS Morning News and contribute to The Early Show and other broadcasts produced by CBS News.

Nguyen's first day on air at CBS News is March 11th.  A spokesperson for CBS said; “We're delighted that Betty is joining our talented on-air team,” said McManus. “She has a great on-air presence and brings a tremendous amount of hard news reporting and anchoring experience to CBS News.”

Before joining CNN, Nguyen was an anchor at KTVT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Dallas (1998-2004), where she covered numerous breaking news events, including the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. Nguyen began her career as a morning anchor and reporter at KWTX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Waco, Texas (1996-98).
