Today CNN chief political correspondent and State of the Union anchor Candy Crowley spoke with Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.
Here is an excerpt from that interview;
BARBOUR: The president is going to appoint a liberal successor to Justice Stevens who's one of the most liberal members of the Supreme Court. In fact, some feel like he's been the leader of the left wing of the Supreme Court for – in recent years –
CROWLEY: And the President has a right to do that, does he not?
BARBOUR: And everybody here, everybody watching your show understands that the president is going to appoint the most liberal he can and he thinks he can get confirmed. And that person will be a liberal. That's just a fact. Do I think it'll affect the election? Only to the sense that it reminds the American people of something they already know, that this is far and away the most liberal administration that we've ever had in the White House, and candidly, in the Congress.
More of Crowley’s interview with Gov. Barbour will air on State of the Union with Candy Crowley, broadcasting live from New Orleans Sunday 9am – 10am and noon ET.
