UK News Channels Cover Dale Farm Eviction

Riot police and baliffs began clearing the illegal travellers camp in Basildon, Essex early on Wednesday morning, and both BBC News and Sky News were live inside and outside the camp.

The eviction became inevitable on Tuesday after 11th hour talks between the travellers and Basildon Council broke down without agreement, with council officials saying that there will be no more negotiations.

BBC Radio Five Live also had two reporters at the site of Dale Farm, broadcasting almost rolling coverage from early during the Breakfast show with Nicky Campbell and Rachel Burden.

Amid scenes of a caravan being set on fire, and possibly hundreds of riot police making their way into the site, almost uninterupted news coverage is expected to last most of the morning.
