MSNBC Films will present “talhotblond,” the true story of a tumultuous online romance turned chilling real-life murder, on Sunday, December 13th, 2009, 10–11 p.m. ET.
During a chance encounter in an online-gaming chatroom, Thomas Montgomery, a lonely husband and father of two, meets a 17-year-old girl named Jessi and convinces her that he is a handsome young marine named Tommy. Jessi’s friendship and adoration of Tommy allows him to escape his real life and take on an identity that he’s always dreamed of. The couple’s friendship blossoms into an intense online romance, and Montgomery becomes passionately addicted to the life he has invented for himself. But his love for Jessi turns to jealous obsession as she flaunts another lover—a co-worker of his—ultimately culminating in bloodshed. The love triangle saga ends with a twist that Montgomery—and the viewer—never saw coming.
