MSNBC Websites Set New Video Traffic RecordThe Msnbc Digital Network set a new site record of 213.8 million total online video streams in March, 2011 – a 32 percent increase above the previous record set in January, 2011.

Millions of consumers turn to NBC News each month to get the latest breaking news, exclusive reports, original web-only stories and updates from around the world. Viewers turned to the digital network for its comprehensive coverage and unique presentation of the breaking news on the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Viewers also turned to the digital network for the latest news and analysis about the nuclear worries in Japan.

The Msnbc Digital Network set a new record for monthly views of photojournalism, with 670 million total slideshow views in March, 2011. The new March record is 63 percent higher than the previous monthly record set in January, 2010 when the site had 412 million total slides viewed for its coverage of the earthquake in Haiti.

In addition, millions of viewers came to msnbc.com’s PhotoBlog for live up-to-the minute photo posts on a variety of stories, including a series of interactive panoramic images of the tsunami aftermath in Japan provided by MSN Japan.

Several sites across the Msnbc Digital Network experienced a significant increase in video streams during the month of March, contributing to the record breaking total. TODAY set a new monthly site record with 67.9 million video streams, 7 percent higher than its previous record set in January, 2011.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” jumped to 37.7 million video streams, a 30 percent increase above its previous monthly site record. The Rachel Maddow Show delivered 10.7 million video streams, a 53 percent spike over the monthly site record. Dateline had 8.1 million video streams in March, a 40 percent increase over its previous site record.

The immersive video experiences on the Msnbc Digital Network, combined with original journalism and advanced technology, give viewers more ways to engage and connect with all the day’s top stories.
