Nightly News Remains Unchallenged at the Top

NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of August 30 – September 5, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

During the week, "Nightly" saw 8.041 million total viewers, +1.056 million more than ABC "World News,’" 6.985 million and +2.639 million more than CBS "Evening News’ 5.402 million.

Nightly had its best total viewer delivery since the week of March 22, 2010, and best viewer advantage over World News since the week of June 28, 2010. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +1.005 million total viewers.

Last week, Nightly also led in the key demo adults 25-54.  Last week was Nightly’s  best rating A25-54 since the week of May 10, 2010 with a 1.9 rating A25-54, ahead of World News’ 1.4 and Evening News’ 1.3. . With 2.360 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat World News by +648,000 viewers, the best advantage since the week of February 22, 2010. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +434,000 A25-54 viewers. This is the 93rd consecutive week Nightly has topped World News in this key demo.

As the number one network broadcast last week, Nightly News delivered a 5.3/11 Household rating, with World News in second place with a 4.7/10, and Evening News in third with a 3.6/8.

On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 5 million online streams for the week ending September 4, 2010.
