It was a serious competition for a great cause. Newsradio 850 KOA and the Girl Scouts of Colorado partnered up with one goal in mind – to bring a smile and a familiar taste of home to our brave fighting men and women overseas. 850 KOA’s Colorado’s Morning News with Steffan Tubbs and April Zesbaugh issued a challenge to the station’s popular afternoon show, The Ride Home with Dave Logan and Lois Melkonian. Each show was certain that their great listeners would donate the most cookies to the troops.
The three-day competition got intense with each show swapping the lead throughout. Monday, February 8th at 5:00 a.m., the contest ended and a winner was crowned. CMN’s generous listeners purchased 2,013 boxes of cookies and The Ride Home took the win with 2,891 boxes purchased. The real winners however, are the troops overseas and the Girl Scouts of Colorado. Twenty five cents of each box purchased benefits a Girl Scout troop in the same zip-code as each donor. 850 KOA listeners came together to donate $16,088 to the cause.
Colorado’s Morning News can be heard weekdays on 850 KOA from 5am – 9am
