Westwood One (Nasdaq: WWON) and Harpo Radio, Inc. today announced the KTMY-FM debut of The Gayle King Show, a two-hour, daily radio talk program hosted by acclaimed newscaster and television personality Gayle King. Listeners in the Minneapolis area can hear The Gayle King Show on KTMY-FM, Monday through Friday from 7PM-9PM.
"I am thrilled to be part of the Westwood One family," said Gayle King. "This show is committed to exploring the issues of the day, sharing relevant headline news and stories, and engaging the listeners in a very real and authentic way. I don't like playing the 'us vs. them' game. This is a show that embraces different opinions and the idea of having fun on the radio."
"We are excited to have found a show that's fun, smart and entertaining - the perfect fit for myTalk 107.1," said KTMY-FM Program Director Amy Daniels. "Gayle is extremely connected and talks to some of the most compelling and high-profile people in the world. When so many shows - especially those in syndication - are screaming about politics, Gayle gives myTalk 107.1 listeners a show that makes them think and smile. We look forward to a long, successful partnership."
Over the past four years, Gayle King has been shaking up the radio airwaves with her fresh perspective on the day's current events and hot topics. Gayle brings listeners news they can use as well as interviews with the people who are front and center in the stories she is talking about. From the latest in pop culture to politics, The Gayle King Show brings it all.
"Listeners have been demanding something new from talk radio. Today we deliver The Gayle King Show," said Dennis Green, Westwood One EVP Affiliate Sales. "Combining the best of broadcast radio with the intelligence, humor and insight of Gayle King, this show is truly transcendent, equally at home on a variety of formats from progressive talk, to traditional talk, to urban stations."
In addition to hosting her radio program The Gayle King Show, King is Editor-at-Large for O, The Oprah Magazine and occasionally appears on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America and Morning Joe. King's extensive media experience leads to in-depth on-air discussions about an array of topics ranging from current events and cultural trends to politics and more. King is a three-time Emmy® Award-winning newscaster who anchored the local news at a CBS affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut for 18 years. In 2008, she won the American Women in Radio & Television Gracie Award® for Outstanding Radio Talk Show and in 2010 the Individual Achievement Award for Host - Entertainment/Information. She is also a 2010 New York Women in Communications' Matrix Award recipient.
