CBS Radio Wins RAIN Internet Radio Award For Best Overall Digital Strategy

CBS RadioCBS Radio and its digital properties including CBS Interactive Music Group and CBS Local Digital Media have been honored with an inaugural Internet Radio Award by RAIN (Radio And Internet Newsletter) for having the “Best Overall Digital Strategy.” 

The RAIN Internet Radio Awards 2010 honored winners in three distinct categories, Best Overall Online Radio Service, Best Streaming Broadcast Station and Best Overall Digital Strategy.  Winners were announced today at RAIN’s Summit East in Washington, D.C.  

The award was bestowed upon the “broadcast station, broadcast group, or online-only webcaster that has implemented the finest overall digital strategy.”  CBS Radio bested four other finalists to win the award and recognition based on the Company’s excellence, as well as its strides in, and commitment to, the digital space.

CBS Radio’s broad portfolio of digital assets include all of its news, talk, sports and music websites; Radio.com, the streaming platform for CBS Radio and its partners, AOL Radio and Yahoo! Music Radio; and Last.fm, the internationally renowned music discovery site.  In addition, CBS Interactive Music Group operates properties like mp3.com and TheStreetDate.com, while programming and creating original content, events and partnerships such as the “Live on Letterman” webcast series, Last.fm on Xbox and targeted streaming stations such as Last.fm Discover and Glee Radio.  

Furthermore, through CBS Local Digital Media, CBS Radio and television stations have combined forces and resources to serve as a competitor in the local marketplace.  This division, which is responsible for the websites of CBS Radio’s more than three dozen news, talk and sports stations, in addition to numerous specialized streaming stations, deliver thousands of content posts from notable personalities, as well as news, scores, videos, audio, images, lists, and local information. 

CBS Local has recently combined the websites of many local CBS Television and Radio stations in the Company’s largest markets across the nation, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Philadelphia.  These web destinations bring together the most trusted brands in local media and include the latest news, traffic, weather, sports information and local discounts audiences have come to expect from the websites of CBS Television and Radio’s biggest news and sports stations.
