RT, the Russian TV news channel, has made it to the final of the most prestigious award in television design and marketing, the Promax/BDA World Gold Awards 2010. The Hooligan poster from RT’s QUESTION MORE campaign has been nominated for the Out-Of-Home Print And Poster.
RT’s 2009 advertising campaign received wide coverage and caused heated discussion in Western media and Internet blogs. In January it was distinguished as Ad of the Month at the British Awards for National Newspaper Advertising. The concept juxtaposed and contrasted widely-recognisable images. The Hooligan poster’s slogan “Who is more dangerous?” is illustrated by the image of a football fan superimposed over a policeman, both ready to attack. The RT campaign’s major slogan challenges the viewer to ‘question more’. There were a total of five ads, available at www.rt.com/ads.
This is not the first RT achievement at the Promax/BDA. In 2008 the channel won the Gold Award in the Promotional Items category. Promax/BDA is recognised as the industry standard for excellence in television marketing, advertisement and design. The contest is run annually for the best work submitted by the world’s leading TV channels. RT’s competitors nominated for Promax/BDA World Gold Awards - 2010 in Los Angeles are industry giants such as NBC UNIVERSAL, MTV Networks International, Fox, and Discovery.
