Sky News is to launch a new strand - Technology Unplugged - an offshoot of Skynews.com, which currently provides television viewers with the stories making the headlines on the web.
In addition to bringing viewers all the latest breaking news, the new half-hour show will focus on the latest developments in [mainstream] technology.
Presenter Martin Stanford will explore topics such as broadband, Digital Britain, illegal downloads, social networking and the economy – as well as reporting the latest technology news from the US.
Each week, Martin will be joined in the Sky News Centre by high-profile guests; and a ‘tech review’ panel of journalists and practitioners will discuss the latest phones, computers and software.
The programme will run each Friday night from 4 December between 19.30 and 20.00.
Martin Stanford said: “Technology is so mainstream nowadays - at work, at home, at school – all our lives are affected by, or in thrall to, the onward march of technology - and it’s important we try to keep the Sky News audience abreast of developments.”
Martin Stanford also presents the nightly Skynews.com programme which is unique in the broadcasting world: its content is influenced by the most clicked and most talked about stories online.
