Sky News is proud to announce it will broadcast the prideofaustralia™ National Medal Presentation at 10.00pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
prideofaustralia™ is a community initiative across News Limited’s network of daily and Sunday mastheads. Now in its seventh year, it recognises everyday Australians who do extraordinary things across ten categories: Outstanding Bravery, Community Spirit, Child of Courage, Environment, Inspiration, Young Leader, Care and Compassion, Courage, Fair Go and Heroism.
Sky News Director of News and Programs Ian Ferguson said: “We’re delighted to be playing a part in recognising these great Australians in an event that showcases their outstanding achievements.”
Medal presenters will include Olympic swimmer Geoff Huegill, CEO of the Australian Conservation Foundation Don Henry, News Limited Chairman and Chief Executive John Hartigan and Youth Off The Streets founder Father Chris Reilly. The hosts will be Rebecca and Jim Wilson and Australia’s Next Top Model 2011 winner, Montana Cox a special guest.
prideofaustralia™ winners from each inspiring category will be announced in the presentation broadcast with the final award, the 2011 People’s Choice award presented by Rebecca Gibney.
This year's gala awards ceremony will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. The prideofaustralia™ judging panel included Mikey Robins, Katie Page from Harvey Norman, Rachael Read from Procter & Gamble and Ed Smith from News Limited.
