Yemen has come under unprecedented scrutiny since the Christmas Day bomb attempt on a Detroit airliner. Sky News will be presenting a number of incisive reports from Sana’a, Washington and the UK.
Sky News’ Foreign Affairs Editor, Tim Marshall, has spent the last week in the country and reports on how the beleaguered government is attempting to battle against a bitter insurgency in the North and the constant threat from Al Qaeda fighters entering Yemen from all over the region. Tim Marshall will anchor Sky News coverage live from the Yemeni Capital, Sana’a.
The Country’s Deputy Prime Minister tells Sky News’ Tim Marshall that he rejects the idea of foreign military assistance despite Yemen’s inability to counter the threat from Al Qaeda. Throughout the day he will also be speaking live to guests, including the Foreign Minister, the UK Ambassador, a former Prime Minister, a Presidential Adviser, Country Directors of the refugee and aid agencies, Yemen’s leading TV news anchor and senior cabinet members who are “rebuilding”, “restructuring” and “developing” Yemen for the future.
US Correspondent Greg Milam will be looking at how America views the country and investigates what the US will do to do to solve the terrorist problem there.
Sky News Foreign Affairs Correspondent, Lisa Holland, will be in the UK and will be speaking to a UK citizen who was convicted of a bomb plot in the country as the UK Government plans a Yemen Conference to discuss what to do.
