Sky News, the RTS News Channel of the Year with a well-earned reputation for being first for breaking news, is to launch its first major marketing campaign which will support the channel as it continues to break new ground in all media news coverage. Running up to, during and beyond the forthcoming election, the activity kicks off on the 10th April with outdoor and on-air advertising. The initial focus for the creative will be the forthcoming Sky News Debate – one of three televised leaders’ debates championed by Sky News. The Sky News Debate will be shown in High Definition (HD) as a taster for Europe’s first dedicated HD news channel.
The campaign features close-up photos of the three main UK party leaders under the headline `Nothing gets you closer’ and highlights both the strength of Sky News’ editorial output as well as the quality of the on-screen image. The launch of Sky News HD is imminent and will offer a new level of picture clarity to support the channel’s award-winning journalism.
The activity will include a major on-air campaign covering both Sky’s own media, as well as planned airtime on terrestrial networks. This will be supported by a major print, radio, online and outdoor campaign.
David Murdin, Director of Sports and News Marketing at Sky, comments: “Sky News has a well deserved reputation for delivering high-quality news first in innovative ways. With a combination of breaking news, insightful analysis and stunning high definition pictures, we want to signal that Sky News is the home of news for the election and beyond.”
John Ryley, Head of Sky News, adds: “Sky News’ first major marketing campaign underlines that, whether on mobile, online, radio, or now in high definition, Sky News gets you closer to breaking news.”
The seven-figure marketing campaign was developed by WCRS and Sky Creative.
