Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday host and popular daytime quizshow presenter Jeff Stelling has quit the Channel 4 programme Countdown to focus on his Sports presenting career.
Stelling has been one of Sky Sports' rotation of presenters for its football coverage since the departure of Richard Keys earlier in the year.
In an interview with a radio station in Tenerife, Oasis FM, Stelling revealed that he will be fronting next season's Champions League coverage for Sky Sports.
He said; "Next season, because I'm doing Champions League for Sky, then I've actually resigned from Countdown so I'll be finishing with that at the end of December."
"You know, you've really got to have your priorities and my priority is football, I love it, and Soccer Saturday, so I've committed myself very much to that next season."
Since the death of the longest-serving Countdown presenter, Richard Whiteley, the show's producers have struggled to find a permanent long-term host. Des Lynam, and Des O'Connor have both presented the show since 2005, with Stelling taking over in 2008.
