Samantha Mohr is an on-camera meteorologist at The Weather Channel®. Previously she was chief meteorologist at KPIX-TV in San Francisco for six years. At The Weather Channel, Mohr can be seen on Weekend View, which airs 5-7 a.m. ET each Saturday and Sunday morning.
Other earlier experience includes: morning meteorologist and weekend host for Good Morning Arizona at KTVK in Phoenix, where she tracked monsoon thunderstorms along with their accompanying dust storms; and as weekend meteorologist at KRIV-TV Fox 26 in Houston where she tracked tropical storms and hurricanes such as Hurricane Gilbert.
While at KPIX-TV, Mohr won an Emmy in 2004 for "Best Weathercast in Northern California," which included a report on the San Francisco fog phenomenon. In 2003 she won the AP award for best weathercast in Northern California, and the Radio-Television News Directors Award for best weather segment/story.
Mohr became fascinated with the weather during her teen years in Columbus when a tornado picked up a nearby stable and wrapped it around the pine trees in her backyard, an experience that made her want to know more about powerful storms.
A native of Columbus, GA, Mohr earned her broadcast meteorology degree from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, TX. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and also served as an AMS broadcast board member evaluating other seal candidates.
